Project Description

Step into the world of cinema with the Movie App, an Android application developed during a one-month internship as part of the Radiation Project. This app was designed to let users effortlessly browse and discover movies while accessing rich details about each title—from the director and runtime to ratings, descriptions, and even video previews.

Overview

The Movie App offers an intuitive, immersive interface for exploring film content. Leveraging a robust data model, the application manages two core entities: Movies and Actors. The Movies entity holds critical attributes such as the movie’s ID, name, director, runtime, release year, category, image, rating, description, and video link. Complementing this, the Actors entity stores cast information, seamlessly linking each actor to the movies in which they have performed. This tight integration ensures that users receive comprehensive movie insights at a glance.

Development Process

During the internship, I embraced the full cycle of mobile app development:

  • UI/UX Design:
I crafted a clean and engaging user interface using Android Studio. Every screen—from the movie catalog to the detailed view—was designed with user experience in mind, ensuring smooth navigation and interactive content display.

  • Data Modeling & Database Integration:
Drawing inspiration from a broader graduation project plan, I implemented a structured data model for movies and actors. This provided a solid foundation for fetching and displaying detailed information about each film, giving users an enriched experience with minimal delay.

  • Core Development:
The app was built with a focus on performance and responsiveness. I integrated local data storage and API endpoints (where applicable) to dynamically load movie details and manage content updates throughout the app.

Results & Impact

The Movie App delivers a polished experience for movie enthusiasts, combining seamless navigation with detailed, data-rich movie profiles. As part of the Radiation Project internship, this project not only honed my skills in Android development and mobile UI design but also demonstrated effective integration of complex data models into a user-friendly application.

What I Gained

This project was a deep dive into Android development under a tight timeline, where I refined my skills in designing intuitive UIs and managing robust databases. It stands as a testament to my ability to deliver high-quality mobile solutions that engage and inform users, making it an impactful addition to my portfolio.
